Fillings

A filling repairs a tooth that has been damaged by decay or wear. It restores strength and shape while keeping the tooth comfortable and functional. Modern, tooth coloured materials blend naturally with your teeth for a smooth, subtle finish.

Crowns

A crown is a protective cover placed over a weakened or broken tooth. It helps restore strength, stability and appearance, allowing you to chew comfortably and protect the tooth long-term.

Bridges

A bridge replaces one or more missing teeth by anchoring to the teeth beside the gap. It helps restore your bite, support facial shape and bring back a more natural-looking smile.

The laboratory, How restorations are made

Caitlin's crowns, bridges and veneers are made by Andent, a Melbourne dental laboratory she has worked with for over fifteen years. Australian made and precision crafted restorations, to her specifications.

Worn teeth

Clenching or grinding of teeth, known as bruxism, is a common cause of worn teeth. Most people have no conscious control over it and may not even be aware of it, since it commonly happens at night.

Symptoms can include pain in the teeth, sensitivity to hot and cold, facial muscle pain, jaw stiffness, tension headaches, changes in how the teeth meet, flattened tooth surfaces and loose, chipped or broken teeth.

It is worth considering the causes of bruxism, which may include stress, anxiety, illness, dehydration and nutritional deficiencies. Dealing with the underlying cause helps prevent further damage.

We can help protect your teeth against further damage by designing and fitting an occlusal splint, a special mouthguard worn at night. Damaged tooth surfaces can then be repaired with fillings, inlays, crowns or veneers depending on the extent of the wear, using colour, shape and translucency to keep the result looking natural.

Fractured teeth

Over the years, teeth can be worn by chewing on hard foods and by clenching or grinding. This may lead to fractures and weakened fillings and can put stress on a particular tooth. Trauma to the jaw or teeth may also cause fractured tooth surfaces.

Caitlin will identify the extent and position of any fracture in order to determine the appropriate treatment. Simple fractures can be repaired with fillings or crowns, using modern materials that match colour, shape and transparency for a natural-looking result.
