Teeth Whitening

The condition and colour of your teeth can have a significant impact on your overall appearance. Many people who have had their teeth whitened comment that they feel more confident and experience greater self-esteem.

Many factors contribute to your teeth becoming discoloured. Food and drinks such as tea, coffee, red wine, chocolate and curries can all stain teeth over time. Additionally, some medications and smoking are also significant contributors.

Treatment Process

In-chair whitening
Carried out within our practice, this in-chair treatment process takes 1 to 1 ½ hours. A strong whitening gel is used to help fast track the whitening process. Many people find this accelerated treatment process more convenient than the at-home whitening treatments and in many cases it is better suited for people with sensitive teeth.

At home whitening
We can provide you with a professional at home tooth whitening kit. This process involves wearing a small mouthguard once per day for 15 minutes to 1 hour. Carried out over five to 10 days (some people will begin to see results after 5) some patients prefer this at home method because it can be done in the comfort of your own home at time that suits you.

Over the counter tooth whitening products
Some over the counter whitening treatments may lighten teeth, however only a professional dental whitening treatment or kit dispensed by a dentist is able to achieve optimal, long lasting results.

Is Teeth Whitening safe?

Prior to any medication or medical treatments being offered to patients, products and processes must first undergo stringent safety testing. Extensive research has been conducted to ensure that our whitening treatments are completely safe. There is no doubt that whitening gels, like most medications, are toxic if used inappropriately. As long as the directions are carefully followed there is no risk of long term damage to your teeth and gums.

The Fresh Dentistry team only use the highest quality materials and whitening gel available.

What results can I expect?

Initial tooth colour varies from one person to the next. Some people have a yellowish tinge to their teeth, others have a grey or greenish colour to their teeth. The colour of this tinge and a number of other factors will influence the effectiveness of the tooth whitening process. Some people will see a significant whitening of their teeth; others will notice that their teeth have become slightly whiter. A very small percentage of people will see no change in colour at all.

The team at Fresh Dentistry will assess your teeth, discuss the degree to which they are likely to whiten and recommend the specific product and process that will produce the best results.

How long will it last?

If you follow the procedure recommended by your Fresh Dentistry team member your teeth should stay lighter for years.fake tag heuer
